Harris Signs has just produced and installed two giant signs on
Coventry’s ring road aimed at raising awareness of the city’s bid to become UK
City of Culture in 2021.
The team behind the bid commissioned the two signs to coincide
with the submission of the final bid document to the Department
for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
The city will know the outcome in
Councillor George Duggins, Leader of Coventry City Council said:
“The city is right behind the bid
and the new messaging on the city’s iconic ring road will reinforce this and
raise awareness to the thousands of motorists visiting the city centre each
“As a council, we’re committed to
doing everything we can to make it clear to everyone, be they city residents,
or those working and visiting the city, that we’re backing the bid 100%.
“We know Coventry people are just
as passionate about their city too and with anticipation and excitement
growing, people are becoming more aware as to just what capturing the title
will mean for the city, especially in terms of economic benefit, additional
tourism and showcasing our city nationally and internationally.”
The two signs were printed
directly onto aluminium laminate using the companies Durst printer and were
installed overnight on two high level bridges.
